7 Types of logic puzzles

 

  • Sudoku: A number puzzle where the player must fill a grid with digits so that each column, each row, and each of the nine 3×3 sub-grids that compose the grid contains all of the digits from 1 to 9.

  • Kakuro: A number puzzle that is similar to a crossword, but with numbers. The player must fill in the blank squares with digits in order to add up to the number provided in the clue above or to the left.

  • Hitori: A number puzzle where the player must blacken some of the squares in a grid such that no two blackened squares are adjacent horizontally or vertically and that every number appears once in each row and column.

  • Nonogram: A puzzle where the player must color in a grid according to the numbers on the top and left sides, which indicate how many consecutive squares of that color are in each row and column.

  • Slitherlink: A puzzle where the player must draw lines around the dots on a grid so that the number of lines around each dot equals the number inside the dot, and that the lines form a single loop with no intersections.

  • Grid Deduction: A puzzle where the player must deduce the positions of different elements in a grid (e.g. houses, people, color) based on clues or constraints given.

  • Cryptarithmetic: A mathematical puzzle where a mathematical equation must be formed by replacing a number of letters by digits.
