Happiness and Comparison Story - How to be happier by be escaping the prison your own mind?

While you Listen or read this moral story you could also realize that we have the power to influence how we fell by taking control over the thoughts we have each day. How do you compare situations and things? Do you feel empowered or weakened by your comparisons?

Once upon a time 2 men were jailed in the same cell. They lived in exactly the same conditions, yet one of them was very unhappy while the other one was happy.

– Why are you so unhappy and sad? the happy man asked unhappy one.

– How can you ask me that? What reasons there for joy and happiness? I am unlucky.

 Not long ago I was free, had a rest at the resort. There, as you know, life is more interesting than here unhappy man answered and asked a happy man: 

– And why are you so happy and satisfied? 

– Well you see,  the happy man said,  recently I was in another prison, where the conditions were much worse. Here is just like a resort for me here, compared to what it was. 

Many people wanted to get here, but I am the lucky one.


We could learn from this story that how one feels is influenced also by how one thinks and the things and situations one compares. The mind could be like a prison or  resort depending on the quality of our thoughts. We can choose to remain trapped or free ourselves!

So many things and situations in life are relative. We can change their meaning and significance by comparing them to other things and situations.

If you want to be happy, just compare your current position not with what is better, but with what could be worse.
